Dr. Abolghasem joined St. Francis Xavier University in 2001 initially in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science with two limited-term positions prior to joining the Information Systems department in 2003 as a full-time faculty member. He also worked in the information technology sector in the United States for two years as a software engineer prior to joining StFX University. Dr. Abolghasem's previous research has been mainly on applications of the general theory of relativity in cosmology. He has published several publications in prominent mathematical physics journals. His recent research focus has been on applications of optimization and data analysis in engineering.
