The Information Systems Society’s mandate in 2012-2013 is to provide an avenue for the tight knit group of IS students to grow both academically, professionally, and socially. Bridging together the commonalities of all students in IS and making the most of their time and educational environment. The society will act as avenue for unification beyond the doors of the classroom. Establishing peer groups, mentoring, and professional networks that that will secure a foundation as a stronger next generation in the field. The society has a plethora of activities in store for the upcoming year which aims to please all appetites. Some of the past activities will be revived for this year such as:
- On-Site visits of clients
- Paintball
- Alumni dinners
- Networking sessions
- Employer information Sessions
- Pizza parties
- Pool
Some new plans that are being worked on:
- Mentoring circles
- Movie nights
- Kayaking
- Career fair trips
- Presentation skills sessions
- Interviewing workshops
- Potlucks
- High School mentorship
- Tutoring circles
