ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS: SPIRITUALITY IN THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION
Jean Goulet, csc studied at the University of Ottawa, the ARC program in Rome, Boston College and the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto. Her apostolic ministry is varied and began with teaching in the Ottawa area, followed by parish ministry, Director of Religious Education, Coordinator of Pastoral Services and Director of the former office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations for the CCCB. Sister Jean has received awards for her contributions to church and society, including the Benemerenti Medal and awards from Friends of Peace and Interfaith Ottawa (2005).
AN INTERFAITH JOURNEY: EXPLORING PRAYER AND SPIRITUALITY
Sharon Doyle received a B.A. and B.Ed. from St. Francis Xavier University and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from University of Toronto. Sharon has a diverse background which includes proofreading for the Globe & Mail and Toronto Star, working in a flower shop, managing a restaurant, and teaching university courses. She spent twenty-five years in a monastic community during which time she experienced solitude as well as traveling widely to give lectures and retreats. Following dispensation from her vows, she worked in Philadelphia and recently completed studies at the International Language School, Halifax.
A THEOLOGY OF THE HEART: THE LIFE AND WRITINGS OF HENRI NOUWEN
Stephen Lazarus is a writer and producer for Context with Lorna Dueck, a weekly television program on faith and current affairs at Global TV, Salt and Light, Vision, and five other networks in Canada and the U.S.. Before coming to Canada in 2008, Stephen served as a social policy analyst for ten years in Washington, DC at the Center for Public Justice. He holds degrees in political science and German (B.A., Central University of Iowa) and he completed an interdisciplinary Masters program (M.Phil.) in philosophy, political theory, and biblical studies at the Institute for Christian Studies.
SPIRITUALITY OF FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS
Doreen Kostynuik ministers as a therapist and spiritual director, retreat director to religious congregations and parishes. Doreen has a M.Ed. in Counselling and continues to study in the areas of spirituality, theology and psychology. She has a variety of experience in giving workshops and retreats, teaching, and group facilitating. Her published works include Songs of the Desert, articles for Caravan magazine, and three albums entitled Doreen Kostynuik, I Wish You Rainbows and Moments of Grace.
SPIRITUALITY OF FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS
Tom Maddix, csc, joined Providence Health Care, Vancouver, in 2004 as Vice-President of Mission, Ethics & Spirituality. He has taught courses at St. Stephen’s Theological College at the University of Alberta and the University of St. Michael’s College, Toronto. Tom received his Doctor of Ministry in Organizational Ethics and Spirituality from the Pacific School of Religon in Berkeley California as well as an MA in English (Notre Dame University) and MA in Social and Organizational Ethics (Pacific School of Religion). He began his career in Catholic education, teaching high school, as well as both undergraduates and graduate students. He is the author of one book, “Running Scared: A Call to Pilgrimage,” as well as co-author of two books, “Journey to Wholeness: Healing Body, Mind and Soul” with Ian Soles and “Knowing Your Ethical Preferences” with Christopher Levan, a contributor to two others and has written numerous articles.
