Certificate in Outdoor Education

The Certificate in Outdoor Education (COE) is a program for teachers of Outdoor Education designed to enhance both skill development and teaching strategies associated with the delivery of these modules of the Public School Program.

In addition to the course hours devoted to development and assessment of skills included in each of the individual courses, additional study will also be completed in general and specific methodologies related to the teaching of the skills in the public school system.  Fundamental to this certificate is how to develop a comprehensive unit plan, supported by outcome specific lesson plans, with current assessment practices. Furthermore, each course will also address year long planning that targets progressive fundamental movement skills and seasonal realities in Nova Scotia.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all cohorts are filled. We are making plans for an upcoming cohort in the Halifax region. Currently there is a waiting list for this group. To access the Halifax cohort application, please click here.
