Environmental Sciences

Welcome to Environmental Sciences

The Environmental Sciences program offers honours and advanced majors in specialties of chemistry, biology, biogeochemistry, and climate & water. A degree in environmental sciences prepares students for graduate studies, to become researchers, as well as for a wide range of careers in environmental consulting, chemical remediation of pollution, climatology, and alternative energy fields.

StFX is home to many leading environmental scientists. These researchers work on complex scientific issues including global climate change, sustainable alternative energy, biological species dynamics in a changing environment, chemical contamination and transport, and greening of the energy industry.  They courses they teach are informed by their modern, leading research.  Students in our program are also very likely to secure campus research jobs, working alongside their professors on these worthy initiatives.
