The International Exchange Office helps StFX students and students from our partner universities enrich their learning by studying in a foreign country for one or two semesters. This immersion in a new academic and cultural environment is often reported as a highlight of the undergraduate years. Students say that exchange study gives them a broader understanding of what we all share as members of a global community and helps them develop skills to navigate across cultures and adapt to new living situations .
To offer these learning opportunities, StFX has developed partnerships with universities around the world.
Students on international exchange pay their tuition to their home university during the exchange period. Once nominated by StFX, an outgoing exchange student must still apply and be accepted by the partner university. Students will transfer credits from courses taken abroad to their StFX degree. Incoming international students apply to StFX after their nomination from their home university is confirmed.
A StFX student may also apply directly to a non-exchange partner university as a visiting student. This university must be an accredited post-secondary institution or credits earned will not be accepted by StFX.
Students wishing to study internationally for a full semester must apply to the International Exchange Office and receive permission from the appropriate Dean to participate in this experience.
