What is eduroam?

Eduroam (education roaming) is a wireless service that allows students, staff, and faculty to use their own home institution’s credentials to access wireless network services when visiting any other eduroam affiliated institution. How to request/access this service: 

IT Services recommends setting up the eduoroam wireless prior to visiting a participating insitution.  Setup instructions can be accessed from our Guides and Tutorials page and linked below.  Once at the eduroam location select the "eduroam" wireless SSID and connect using your webfx username, remembering to add your home realm of in the username field (i.e. and your current password in the password field.


The eduroam wireless is availabe campus wide at St Francis Xavier University.

The network restrictions in place are at the discretion of the institution providing the service.   At the very minimum, eduroam provides basic network connectivity for web browsing (HTTP/HTTPS).   There is no guarantee that eduroam will provide the same access to resources as the home or visited institution’s standard wireless networks.
