International Student Orientation Week 2017

Are you coming to StFX in the fall?

Be sure to arrive in time for International Student Orientation (ISO) Week, running August 28th to September 1st 2017.

ISO Week is one of the most important weeks for new international students. It brings together people from all over the world and provides the information, skills, and contacts for new students to begin adjusting to life in Antigonish and to succeed at STFX. ISO is free to attend for all international students.

Register for ISO Week to secure a seat on our free transportation from the Halifax Airport to Antigonish on August 28th and 29th 2017.

Meet New People- Students and Community Members

Meet people from across the world- senior and returning students- as well as associates from the Coady International Institute. Meet members of the International Student Society, Students’ Union, and various StFX faculty and staff. Along the way you will get to know members of the local Antigonish community who can also provide friendship and support.

Gain Cultural Orientation

What is the proper way to greet people in Nova Scotia? What are the laws around driving? Where can I buy food that I am used to? What do people mean when they say “party” here? Do students approach professors? Join the conversation and find the answer to these questions and more about Canadian and Nova Scotian culture.

Learn about University Structure and Services

Learn about technology systems used on campus such as Moodle; about the academic structure (e.g. course syllabus, credits, transfers, etc.), communications (university e-mail); and what professors will expect from you as students.

ISO is highly valuable for first-time international students. The information provided in these sessions is essential for student success in a university environment.

Start the year with confidence. Register for ISO Week and secure a spot with our free transportation service from Halifax International Airport to StFX.
