REGISTRATION INFORMATION
IN-PERSON
Register at the StFX Alumni Aquatic Centre Welcome Desk, seven days a week during operational hours. We accept cash, cheque (payable to StFX Recreation), MasterCard, Visa, and Direct Debit.

Payment by cheque (payable to StFX) or credit card. Please note that post-dated cheques will not be accepted. Please include the course name, session date(s) and time, registrant's name and contact information, and if applicable, credit card information with expiry date.

WAITING LISTS
Waiting lists for our courses essentially serve as a demand list to indicate interest in a course. Should an opening occur, you will be notified immediately; however, openings are allocated on a first-paid, first-served basis. Position on the waiting list does not guarantee a spot in the course.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
All participants are expected to recognize and accept the inherent risks of their activity. StFX University does not accept responsibility for injuries sustained by persons participating in recreational activities. Each participant is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining coverage through their Provincial Health Insurance Plan and/or other agencies or plans. All members are required to sign the Member Contract & Release form. Programs are open to those 16 years and older unless specified in the program description.
REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY
RECREATIONAL SERVICES MEMBERSHIPS
All memberships will be refunded within 5 days of purchase minus a 15% administration charge. After this 5-day trial period, refunds will only be issued for medical reasons (with written documentation). On occasion, certain facilities may not be available due to maintenance, special events, etc. Campus Recreation will provide notice whenever possible, but memberships will not be extended.
LOCKER AND TOWEL SERVICE
Monthly or annual services will be refunded within 5 days of purchase minus a 15% administration charge. After this 5-day trial period, refunds will only be issued for medical reasons (with written documentation).
ANCILLARY COURSES
Courses can be refunded, minus a 15% administration charge, prior to the start of the first class. After a course begins, refunds will only be issued for medical reasons (with written documentation). Recreational Services reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason; in this case a full refund will be issued with no administration charge.
PROFESSIONAL COURSES
Courses will not be refunded. Recreational Services reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason; in this case a full refund will be issued with no administration charge.
COURSE MATERIALS AND PROSHOP PURCHASES
Course material or proshop items purchased through Recreational Services are non-refundable.
GROUP FITNESS CLASS HOLIDAY CANCELLATON SCHEDULE
Classes will not be held on the following Holidays for land or aquatic group fitness:
Christmas Eve Christmas Day Boxing Day
New Year’s Eve Victoria Day Canada Day
Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Remembrance Day
AQUATIC GROUP FITNESS SNOW CANCELLATION
Aquatic Group Fitness Classes will be cancelled when the Antigonish Area schools are cancelled. This is to maintain consistency and avoid confusion.
UNFORESEEN GROUP FITNESS CANCELLATION COMMUNICATION
Classes may be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control but we will put an announcement on CJFX and The Hawk whenever possible. Please check our website or call our welcome desk at 867-2181 for up to date scheduling.
LOCKER ROOMS
LOCKER ROOMS
Our locker rooms are equipped with rental lockers, day-use lockers, washrooms, and shower and changing areas.
- The drying are should be used for drying off prior to returning to the changing area.
- Too much water on the floor is unsafe and uncomfortable for our patrons.
- Lock up your belongings in a locker. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged articles
- Locks left on day-use lockers overnight will be removed.
- To prevent injuries from broken glass, glass containers are prohibited in the locker and shower facilities.
- Be environmentally conscious, please use recycle bins provided.
CHILDREN (11 years of age and under)
Children may use the facilities during our family recreation hours. They may use locker rooms and designated facilities for lessons in which they are registered. Children must at all times be accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian who is at least 19 years of age. In the pool, children 11 years of age and under must be within arms' reach of the responsible adult. For safety and health reasons, children are not permitted to use the weight room, Cardio Annex, cardio room, or to attend aerobics classes at any time.
YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE GENDER APPROPRIATE LOCKER ROOM
For the comfort of all patrons, children five years of age and older should use the gender appropriate change room. If you require a family change area, please ask at our welcome desk as we can provide one in the pool office.
FAMILY DEFINED
"Family" is defined as two Parents /Legal guardians and three children up to and including the age of 18. There is a $25.00 fee for more children. ID may be required for proof of age.
FACILITY POLICIES
CAMERA USE
For the protection of all our users' privacy, the use of cell phones with photographic capabilities or any other photographic equipment is strictly prohibited in the locker rooms. Use of this equipment in other recreation facilities requires departmental and participant permission.
Failure to comply will result in the suspension of your recreation membership, plus possible further disciplinary sanctions.
AEROBICS/DANCE STUDIO (Keating Center)
Our aerobics studio is the site for most of our aerobics classes, and some dance classes and Sport Club practices.
- Since our studio is beyond our check in location, members are required to have a punch pass to identify themselves as Recreational Services members. Punch Passes at the Welcome Desk Membership Services with appropriate I.D.
- Athletic clothing and clean athletic footwear with non-marking soles must be worn in the studio. Street clothing is not permitted as it can be confining when exercising.
- Sport bags and jackets are not permitted in the aerobics studio (use day-use lockers provided). Non-Campus Recreation personal trainers are not permitted to train clients within our facilities.
WELLNESS CENTRE (Keating Center)
Our 3300 sq ft Wellness Centre training room features Atlantis, Cybex, Star Trac, Precor and Concept equipment as well as over 9000 lbs. of free weights. Our cardio area features stairclimbers, upright and recumbent bikes, rowing ergometers, cross trainers, and treadmills.
- Since our Wellness Centre is beyond our check in location members are required to wear a pass to identify themselves as Recreational Services. Passes are available at the Welcome Desk with appropriate ID.
- There is a maximum time limit of 30-minutes on all cardio equipment.
- Athletic clothing and clean athletic footwear with non-marking soles must be worn at all times.Open-toed shoes are not permitted.
- Street clothing is not permitted as it can damage benches and can be confining when exercising.
- Food and glass bottles are not permitted in the Wellness Centre.
- Non-Campus Recreation personal trainers are not permitted to train clients within our facilities.
- Users not familiar with the operation of exercise equipment should ask our staff for an introduction.
- The machines and weights should be used with care. Dropping plates, dumbbells, and weight stacks can cause injury and damage equipment and will not be tolerated.
- Be courteous to your fellow members and always ask to work in/alternate on equipment.
- Wipe down equipment after use with towels provided.
- Return weights to their proper location after use.
- Sport bags and jackets are not permitted in the weight room (use day-use lockers provided).
HIGH PERFORMANCE ROOM (OC)
Our 1500 sq ft training room features Atlantis and York equipment as well as over 6000 lbs. of free weights..
- Members are required to wear a pass to identify themselves as Recreational Services. Passes are available at the Welcome Desk with appropriate ID.
- Athletic clothing and clean athletic footwear with non-marking soles must be worn at all times.Open-toed shoes are not permitted.
- Street clothing is not permitted as it can damage benches and can be confining when exercising.
- Food and glass bottles are not permitted.
- Non-Campus Recreation personal trainers are not permitted to train clients within our facilities.

GYMNASIA (OC):
Our Drop-in Recreation program is self-directed and regulated by participants. We can offer Badminton, Basketball, and Indoor Soccer. Players are expected to rotate on courts to allow everyone the opportunity to participate. It is recommemded to call the Welcome Desk at 867-2181 to see if the gym is available for recreation.
- Since our Gyms are beyond our check in location users are required check in at the Welcome Desk with appropriate ID.
- Drop-in equipment is available to rent or borrow. Users are responsible for equipment they check out. An individual who fails to return checked out equipment or who returns damaged equipment must pay the cost of replacement value to replace the lost, stolen, or damaged equipment. If a patron plans to transfer equipment to another member, both patrons must report to the Welcome Desk to record the switch.
- Play individually, with a friend, or a group of friends.
- Athletic clothing and clean athletic footwear with non-marking soles must be worn in the gymnasia.
- Street clothing is not permitted as it can be dangerous and confining when exercising.
- Sport bags and jackets are not permitted in the gymnaisa (use day-use locker provided).
- Food and glass bottles are not permitted in the gymnasia.
INDOOR RINKS (Keating Center)
- Since our Indoor Rinks are beyond our check in location members are required to wear a pass to identify themselves as Recreational Services. Passes are available at the Welcome Desk with appropriate ID.
- Our indoor rink facilities are located in the KMC. When not in use by Recreational Services programs, the rink can be booked by visiting the box office.
- Helmets are recommended during Member Skates and required for Pick-up Hockey.
- No one wearing shoes shall be allowed on the ice.
- No chairs are allowed on the ice.
