The Industry Liaison and Knowledge Transfer Office is a service resource to the research community of St. Francis Xavier University and a bridge for the university to institutional growth and economic development.
The economic and social value of knowledge transfer in general and in particular inventions and software generated from university research, has clearly been demonstrated.
The Flux Lab is one of St. FX’s gems. Led by Dr. Dave Risk, teams of talented young researchers are working to develop instrumentation, modeling, and analytical strategies for measuring greenhouse gas production and soil emission. They work closely with other large research centres across the country and are making groundbreaking developments in their emissions studies.
The Environmental Sciences Research Centre (ESRC) is a multidisciplinary research and post graduate training centre carrying out fundamental and applied research in Environmental Sciences. Since 2004 ESRC actively contributes to the training of future scientists through the sharing of expertise and resources among researchers and institutions to facilitate the development of leading edge research in the region.

The purpose of the Invention Disclosure Form is to record what was or may have been invented and the circumstances under which the invention was made. It provides the basis for a determination of patentability and the data for drafting a patent application. It is a legally important document, which should be read carefully before completing.
An Invention Disclosure should be made when it is believed that something new and useful has been conceived or developed, or when unusual, unexpected or unobvious research results have been achieved and can be utilized.
