CEA @ X 2017

In June 2017, the 51st annual conference of the Canadian Economics Association (CEA) will be held at StFX. This is the largest economics conference in Canada, and attracts participants from academia, government and international organizations. Keynote speakers are drawn from the top experts in the field, and in the past have included Nobel Prize recipients. The June 2013 edition, which was held at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Montreal, attracted over 1000 participants from around the world.
The 2017 edition will mark the first time that this event will be held in a small town and at a primarily undergraduate university. Consequently, a small army of staff and volunteers will be required to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Duties would include working at the registration desk to acting as campus guides. Students entering StFX in 2013 and later will therefore have an opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes preparations for hosting such a mammoth event, and to meet and hear some of the giants in the field. Such opportunities have traditionally been reserved for graduate students at previous host institutions, so StFX Economics students will witness an event seldom attended by undergraduate students elsewhere in the country.
More information about the conference will be posted here as it becomes available.
