Finance Operations Analyst

The Finance Operations Analyst is a dual role position located in Florenceville New Brunswick. The position is responsible for the day-to-day financial activities for the Eastern Region and serves as the SAP Business Process Owner (BPO) for Make to Deploy (MTD) Production Execution (PE) and Warehouse Management (WM) for North America plants. The Finance Operations Analyst will assist the Operations Finance Manager with plant performance analyses, weekly and monthly variance forecasts, and annual operating budget.


• Complete distribution of usage variance templates (labor and energy) daily.
• Perform distribution of usage variance (labor, energy, and material) daily or as required.
• Ensure clean cut-off of process orders daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Work with production personnel to ensure that issuance of raw materials and closing of process orders are completed timely and accurately.
• Analyze plant variances and report findings to plant management and operations finance weekly.
• Complete energy report for fuel, electricity, and water monthly.
• Reconcile cost report labor and energy to the general ledger monthly.
• Good understanding of transaction/inventory flow and financial impact/posting.
• Prepare journal entries during month-end close.
• Responsible for updating plant variance forecast weekly and monthly, including explanations.
• Responsible for bill of material changes and maintenance as needed.
• Provide corporate office with product costing for Costing & Feasibility (C&F) requests as needed.
• Perform inventory audits of raw, ingredient, packaging, and spare parts quarterly.
• Work with plant maintenance to identify excess/obsolete spare parts quarterly.
• Work with plant management to identify cost savings opportunities at the plant.
• Lead the development of the annual operating budget for the responsible plant.
• Develop, test and train end users and serve as Key contact for NA plants on Make To Deploy Production Execution and Warehouse management issues.
• Assist with BI report development.
• Maintain training guides and SOP’s for NA.
• Review and approve PE/WM FUG requests for NA.
• Work with McCain Business Services to complete tasks timely and accurately.
• Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.


Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: (Indicate if Preferred not required)
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Enrollment in the CPA program preferred
• Experience/knowledge of SAP MTD PE/WM required.
• Relevant work experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Required Length & Type of Experience: (Indicate if Preferred not required)
• 3-5 years of work experience in cost accounting (preferred).
• Strong technical, analytical, and systems skills (SAP, Microsoft Excel) preferred
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills with ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects.
• Must be able to investigate complex issues and resolve problems.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and telephone keyboard and talk or hear.
• Requires visual acuity to focus on desktop and/or laptop computer screen.
• Requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, talking and listening.
• Requires going out to production floor or inventory storage areas.
• May required to travel to corporate office or other plant sites.
