Students will be introduced to three main aspects of Life 'Round here with rotating discussion workshops including:
  1. Nish Livin – Gives students a better idea about resources available to them and activities here on campus, as well as in the Antigonish community
  2. Health & Safety– Will focus on educating students about sexual health and sexual assault awareness
  3. Community Code of Conduct – The Community Code will be explained to students' to give them an idea about why we have it in place, and how it is used


September 7-13: Get Involved

Society Night

Date: Tuesday, September 10th 
Location: MacKay Room
Time: TBD

Society night gives students the opportunity to check out the different societies available on campus, as well as sign up for them. It's been one of the biggest extra-curricular events on campus for a long time, and is also a great opportunity for students' to explore their interests. Societies range from academic, to athletic, to volunteer, to travelling! 



September 14-20: Healthy Living                      

Sexual Health Sessions

Date: September 14-16
Location: Residences On-Campus
Nurses from the StFX Health & Counselling Centre will provide sexual health educational sessions in each residence on-campus on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evening. 

Mental Health Campaign

Date: September 15-19
Location: Thoughout Campus
The campaign will aim to bring awareness to students about the programs and resources available to them here on campus, as well to educate students on mental illness with the following activites.

Yoga & Smoothie Session

Date: Saturday, September 20th
Location: StFX Turf
Time: 4:00PM - 6:00PM
Open to all StFX students! An opportunity to join in on a free yoga class on the StFX Turf, with free smoothies available afterwards. 

September 21-27: Money, Money, Money

Mobile Financial Advising
Date: September 22nd-26th
Location: Morrison Hall
Time: 11:30AM-1:30PM
Do you have questions about bursuries, loans, student debt or financial planning? The team from Financial Aid will be available to all students in Morrison Hall during lunch times of Week 4 to answer any questions you may have!

Money Matters Information Session

Date: Tuesday, September 23rd
Location: Schwartz 205
Time: 7:00PM-8:30PM
A chance for students to learn about loans and bursuries available to them, as well as how to budget their funds and plan financially. Students will also be able to learn how to view their student account information, the payment due dates and the methods of payment available.


September 28-October 4: It's Academic

Mobile Academic Advising

Date: September 29th-October 3rd
Location: Morrison Hall
Time: 11:30AM-1:30PM
An academic advising resource that will be available to students in Morrison Hall from Monday-Friday. Advisors will be present at a table in Morrison Hall to answer any questions students may have about course options, degree patterns, and important deadlines. 

Study Skills & Time Management Workshop

Date: Monday, September 29th & Tuesday, September 30th
Location: Monday - Schwartz 190, Tuesday - Schwartz 156
Time: Monday from 2:30PM-4:00PM & Tuesday from 6:30PM-8:00PM
This interactive session will provide students with the skills and strategies necessary to prepare for mid-terms and exams, and how to manage their time accordingly.

Academic Advising X-po

Date: Thursday, October 2nd
Location: MacKay Room, 3rd Floor SUB
Time: 6:30PM-8:00PM
First year students will have the opportunity to speak to upper-classmen from each department in each faculty at an interactive expo. Whether you're a Business student interested in Arts, or a Science student unsure about what to major in - this will be an exciting event to interact with students who have been in your shoes and can answer questions about certain programs you really want answered.

October 5-11: Mission Accomplished!

Where's The WC?

Date: October 6th-10th
Location: Throughout Campus - Keep an eye out!
Each day during the week, posters will be placed around campus asking "Where's The WC?". The purpose is to give students a better idea as to where the Writing Centre is located on campus (as it is often difficult for many students to find it!) A link will be placed on the poster, once students go to this link and answer the question given, they will be entered to win a prize of StFX swag. 

Exploring Interests Workshop

Date: October 7th
Location: Sschwartz 190
Time: 6:30PM-7:30PM
Students can discover their underlying personal, learning and work interests using the Holland Game Interest Activity. A staff member from the Student Career Centre will facilitate the workshop and assist students in understanding how interests play out in one's life through learning, work and leisure.
