Health Insurance

As an International Student, you are required to have comprehensive health insurance. Once you have registered, you are automatically enrolled in two health insurance plans, Health and Dental. To learn more about the StFX Health Plan coverage click here.

Once you have resided in Nova Scotia for 13 consecutive months, and providing you do not leave for more than 30 days, you are eligible for Nova Scotia Health coverage (MSI). MSI coverage is free, though you will need to call 800-563-8880 in order to register. Remember that you are not covered by MSI if you are not in Nova Scotia. Since MSI does not cover prescription drugs, eye glasses, or dental care, you may wish to buy additional health insurance to cover these costs; you will find several health insurance companies listed in the phone book.
